Go Duke!

I'm a Flyers fan, and the Flyers are having a bad year.  It's going to get better and they are going to make the play-offs again, and you know what is going to really grind my gears when they do?  Fans that come out of the woodwork as soon as the playoffs start.
Since I can't stand fair-weather fans, I try to avoid being one; but I'm making an exception for one season, I'm pulling for Duke Lacrosse this year.  Usually I'm a Navy fan and I hope they meet each other in the Final Four this year.  For a team that has been let down by school adminstration who didn't believe them and a government official who used them at the expense of the truth, these kids have a chance to show the world what lacrosse is all about.
I started playing lacrosse when I was in seventh grade, and now at 32 I'm still playing.  I've always thought it was the most exciting thing you could do with your clothes on.  The whole "lacrosse player are rich private schools kids" stereotype that was associated with this case from the start bothered me because I wasn't a rich kid and I didn't go to a private school.   It's the fastest growing sport in the country because almost everyone can be good at it.  If you take the time to learn to catch and throw you can play even if you aren't the fastest or biggest kid out there.
As usual the MSM did a lot of damage reporting the allegations, but too bad the truth doesn't sell.  I'm pulling for Duke  this year because they have a chance to show everyone how great this game is.

Polls don't mean much, especially is early March, but after beating Maryland (who has what some thought was the best defense in Division 1, and a double OT JHU win over Princeton) congratulations Duke; number one in the IL/Nike poll for the first time ever.  Keep it up, it's a long season.
